This research aims to examine how nursing executives support RNs in their role as preceptors to new graduate nurses, and we are seeking RNs with preceptoring experience who are willing to share their insights.

New graduate nurses (NGNs) are often supported through structured transition programs that include orientation, ongoing education, and RN preceptors.

However, there is limited understanding of how nursing executives support RN preceptors throughout this role, and hearing directly from those who have served as preceptors is essential to addressing this gap. By engaging participants with firsthand experience, this study will explore how RNs are prepared and educated for preceptoring, as well as the organisational structures, policies, and resources available to them.

What the study will explore

It will examine the barriers and enablers RNs encounter while preceptoring NGNs. The perspectives contributed by participants will play a crucial role in shaping evidence‑based recommendations to strengthen organisational support and enhance the effectiveness of preceptor roles, and we invite interested RNs to take part in this important work.

You may be eligible to take part in this study if you meet the following criteria:

• Aged 18 years or older
• Registered RN (Division 1) with AHPRA
• Experience precepting a new graduate nurse
• Able to complete an online survey
• Able to provide informed consent
