The Crisis Prevention Institute will be running a webinar titled “Reducing the Behavioural & Psychological Symptoms of Dementia Using an Enriched Model of Care”
The webinar introduces the concept of ‘an enriched care and support model’ can significantly reduce the behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia and as a result, reduce the use of sedatives and antipsychotic medication and improve people’s quality of life.
Key Learning Objectives
– List the common types of dementia and Identify how a person’s experience of dementia is affected by more than cognitive decline
– Understand why distressed behaviour should be viewed as communication in response to the person’s environment and not simply an inevitable consequence of dementia and disease progression
– Understand why an enriched model of care and support can significantly mitigate the behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia, reducing the need for pharmacological intervention and restrictive practices
The webinar will run for approx. 45 minutes and conclude with a live Q&A.
