Health care providers’ knowledge of cardiovascular disease risk in women.
This survey seeks to understand the current knowledge and awareness of health professionals of cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk in women and explore their recent management of such risk factors among women.
In Australia, and in line with the international trend, CVD remains the leading cause of death, accounting for 30% of all deaths in general population. While some modifiable and non-modifiable risk factors are common between men and women, there are some risk factors that affect women only and are known as gender specific risk factors. We believe health professionals can be considered women’s main source of information as professional front liners and initiate CVD risk management. Therefore, it is vital for health providers to be fully aware of such CVD gender differences. This would provide better disease prevention approaches, suitable education, and more inclusive follow ups.
This survey has been designed with the aim of finding the gaps in health system and pursue practical and comprehensive educational approaches to improve knowledge of both women and healthcare professionals.
Please participate in this 10–15-minute survey to assist us with this aim.
