A midwife’s registration has been cancelled by the State Administrative Tribunal of Western Australia, after she admitted to providing false declarations regarding her recency of practice.

From 2012 to 2017, midwife Joy Jones declared that she had met the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia’s recency of practice requirements, when she knew or ought to have known that these declarations were incorrect. Based on these declarations, the Board renewed her registration as a midwife.

Ms Jones admitted that the submission of the false declarations constituted professional misconduct. She had her registration as a midwife cancelled by the Tribunal, and was ordered to pay $1,350 towards the Board’s costs.
