The University of Technology, Sydney (UTS) is inviting neurodivergent nurses to contribute their experiences to research aimed at improving workplace inclusion.

The Neurodiversity in Nursing Study is a doctoral research project led by Jessica Smithers at UTS. This multi-phase study explores the workplace experiences of neurodivergent nurses in the Australian public healthcare system, with a focus on their strengths, perspectives, and capabilities.

We are inviting registered and enrolled nurses who have been formally identified with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, and/or dyscalculia, and who have current or recent (within the past two years) clinical experience in the Australian public health system.

Participants will initially complete a 10-minute eligibility survey. Those who meet the criteria may then choose to take part in either:

• a 60-90 minute online interview, or
• a 90-120 minute online focus group

Eligibility Criteria

Participants must be:

• Registered or enrolled nurse
• Formally identified (autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia)
• Not completing a transition to practice program
• Current or recent experience working in the Australian public health system
