NSWNMA’s Grads at the Grounds is back, bringing new nurses and midwives together for real talk, connection, and a confident start to your career. 

Starting your nursing and midwifery career is a big moment, and it’s normal to feel a mix of excitement and nerves. Whether you’re heading into public, private, aged care, or primary health, you’ve probably got questions like: who do I turn to when work gets tough? How do I cope with grief after a patient dies? 

These are real concerns, and you’re not alone! 

That’s why NSWNMA is hosting Grads at the Grounds – an event to connect and hear from people who have been exactly where you are, with the same concerns you have. After last year’s event, grads told us they felt “a lot more confident starting my new graduate journey” – so we’re doing it again. 

Grads at the Grounds 2025

This event brings together nursing and midwifery grads from across NSW for real-talk advice, shared stories, and practical tips to help you not just survive, but thrive in your first year. You’ll hear from: 

• Ellie Peach (@_ellie.peach): Ellie is an Emergency RN who will share the little tips that made a huge impact on staying positive and confident throughout her new grad placement. 

• Nurse Priya (@priyaprosser): Radiology and travel RN, Priya will talk about the importance of team nursing, standing up to workplace bullying and building a strong support system both at work and beyond. 

• Elle Brown: Elle is a Peer Support Clinician with Nurse Midwife Health Program Australia. She is also a Registered Nurse with 40+ years’ experience in critical care and clinical supervision, dedicated to supporting nurses, midwives, and students, with a strong focus on wellbeing.
