Australian Band Hoodoo Gurus have released a new single titled “Carry On”, which has been dedicated to health workers’ resilience and tenacity through the COVID-19 pandemic.

The song’s music video pays tribute to the nurses who have given their all through this pandemic. It features actual nurses in the lead roles, and is grounded on the lived experiences of said nurses.

This music video is the first where the band does not appear, although lead singer Dave Faulkner does make a cameo appearance.

In developing the music video, Faulkner took inspiration from family members of his that worked within the health sector.

“I have a sister-in-law who is a career nurse, as well as a nephew and niece who are following in her footsteps,” Faulkner said.

“I have always marveled at their at their ability to handle the terrible stress of working in such a demanding environment. But they do, turning up each day with optimism despite the terrors that they face”.

The single is now available on all streaming services, online music retailers, as well as on 7” vinyl.
