The Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on Refugee Health and Resettlement

June 9, 2020

The NSW Refugee Health Service and The Ingham Institute for Applied Medical Research would like to invite you to a free 1 hour live webinar for Refugee Week.

Thursday 18th June 2020

9.30am – 10.30am AEST

Register Here

Registered attendees will be emailed a Zoom link to the Webinar

We are living in extraordinary times: there are more people in need of protection globally than ever before. The COVID-19 pandemic has closed borders, removing two of the three options for refugees – resettlement and repatriation. Join us as we explore what this means for refugees and asylum seekers both in asylum countries and here in Australia. As we gaze into the future, what will be the implications on refugee health and the organisations providing care? How do you prioritise, plan and provide health service delivery during this pandemic for refugees in protracted situations of displacement?

This webinar celebrates Refugee Week 2020 – ironically, themed as “The Year of Welcome” – and will discuss these phenomena from both a national and international perspective with a focus on health and health services.

Keynote Speaker – Dr Claire Fotheringham

She has worked for Queensland Health for ten years before beginning her work with MSF where she has worked in Sierra Leone, Afghanistan and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Claire has a Medical Degree and a Masters in International Public Health.
