Meet TLR – the Sydney-based foundation dedicated to improving the outcomes for people facing blood cancer. 

The foundation focuses its efforts in two key areas: raising awareness of stem cell donation and encouraging young Australians to join the national donor registry; and strengthening the specialist nursing workforce by funding advanced education. 

Supporting nurses through the TLR Nursing Scholarships 

Did you know that the TLR offers two perpetual scholarships to empower nurses to build advanced skills in complex cancer care? 

These postgraduate scholarships support hematology and oncology nurses currently to soon-to-be undertaking the Master of Cancer and Haematology Nursing, in partnership with the University of Sydney. 

The aim is to help nurses deepen their specialist knowledge and grow as leaders in cancer and haematology nursing here in our Australian community.  

The next intake for the Master of Cancer and Haematology Nursing at the University of Sydney is January 2027. NSWNMA members are encouraged to apply. 

The scholarships include: 

• The Trace Richey Nursing Scholarship, awarded annually since 2022 

• The Allan Frenkel Nursing Scholarship, to be awarded for the first time in 2027 

To apply, applications must: 

• be an Australian citizen or permanent resident 

• be a registered nurse working in a relevant clinical area 

• be enrolled in or planning to enrol in a Master of Cancer & Haematology Nursing at the University of Sydney.
