Nurse Gretel Willis nominated her manager, Anthony Mowbray, as our October nurse of the month.
Anthony has been our Nursing Unit Manager for about a year. He had shown himself to be caring and approachable for all people; staff, patients and families. He has been exceptional at connecting with and calming our extreme behavioural patients, making them feel heard and important, like everyone else. We work on a busy medical ward with mental health, dementia and drug and alcohol related behaviours.
Anthony has not been shy at getting involved with patient liaising, above and beyond what I feel is expected in this role. His calm and gentle nature leads us through the most intense and stressful times.
He is happy to stay back and support staff if needed, making sure we are all okay dealing with the many challenges we face on our ward. He leads us all with connection and care, creating a working team which is happy to come together to serve our patients the best way we can. He is an inspirational nurse and leader.
