The NSW Nurses and Midwives’ Association has been awarded a Gold certification for the 2020 Climate Champion Awards in the area of climate leadership.
Awarded by the international organisation Health Care without Harm as part of the Health Care Climate Challenge, the awards honour healthcare organisations who conduct action against climate change in the areas of resilience, mitigation and leadership.
Specifically, the awards acknowledge organisations that take proactive steps to address the sector’s carbon footprint and protect their local populations from the health impacts of climate change.
Other 2020 awardees for the Pacific region are:
- Ambulance Victoria
- UnitingCare
- Auckland District Health Board
- Northland District Health Board.
The NSW Nurses and Midwives’ Association will continue to advocate for real action on climate change, and acknowledge the role that the health sector plays on pollution and global warming.
