Nurses and midwives are at the front line managing COVID-19, and will be among the most important workforces during this pandemic. Supporting you, your health and your wellbeing is critical for the NSW Nurses and Midwives’ Association.
The NSWNMA have made the decision to cancel our education program, up to 30 June 2020. We will reassess the situation in May, or as per Government direction, for courses from July 2020 onwards. We will contact members via email with more information. We are in the process of contacting all members who are enrolled in courses, and full refunds will be available
Keep an eye on your email inbox! The NSWNMA will email members once we have finalised our capacity to offer our courses online.
Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirements
As most face to face courses have been postponed or cancelled, many nurses and midwives have contacted us with concerns about how they will meet their CPD requirements. This information sheets contains details on what is required.
While the NSWNMA is fast tracking plans to offer our courses through online alternatives, there are still a number of options already available to make sure you meet your CPD requirements.
Self-directed/online learning will make up an important part of your CPD. This could be through the following:
- The Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation has an online education service where members can access courses, at a rate of $8.90 per course
- COVID-19 infection control training
- NSWNMA podcasts
- Reading and reviewing the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia’s (NMBA) codes and standards
- Any type of learning you have had to undertake to prepare you for COVID-19 (in-services, reviewing workplace policies, online learning modules, journal articles)
Through your membership, you have access to CINAHL which has thousands of articles. This can be accessed via Member Central.
