6 nurses from NSW are among the 1190 Australians honoured in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List.
These nurses are:
- Vicki Joan Roach AM – Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in the General Division
For significant service to neuroscience nursing, and to professional federations.
- Letitia (Tish) Lancaster AM – Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in the General Division
For significant service to oncology nursing, and to professional societies.
- Linette Veitch AM – Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in the General Division
For significant service to nurse education, and to international health programs.
- Marea Christine Reading OAM – Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in the General Division
For service to nursing.
- Bernadette Ann Mottram OAM – Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in the General Division
For service to nursing, and to veterans.
- Alison Kincaid OAM – Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in the General Division
For service to nursing.
The Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC commended these year’s honours recipients for their contributions to Australian society.
“Each of these individuals are unique and their story deserves to be shared widely and celebrated.
“Collectively, they speak to who we are as a nation. There are countless examples of selflessness, commitment and dedication. There is diversity and there are examples of exceptional achievement in almost every field imaginable,” the Governor-General said.
Altogether, 19 nurses, midwives and military nurses were honoured in this year’s list.
The NSW Nurses and Midwives’ Association congratulates these nurses, and all Queens Birthday Honours recipients on their awards.
