Following concerted advocacy from the NSW Nurses and Midwives’ Association, registered nurses working at Provectus Care aged care facilities will receive the Aged Care Registered Nurses Payment.
53 registered nurses working for Provectus Care were set to miss out on the government payment due to late lodgement of grant applications by the employer. Working alongside Provectus Care, the Association advocated for the Department of Health and Aged Care to accept the late lodgement due to extenuating circumstances.
The nurses across the aged care provider’s NSW, Queensland and Victoria facilities will receive a total of $187,761.88 from the federal government scheme. Payments range between $300 and $6,000, with several nurses eligible for the maximum amount.
Association General Secretary, Shaye Candish, described the result as “fantastic”.
“This result will no doubt make a difference to the members in these workplaces,” Ms Candish said.
“It provides significant opportunities for the teams at these facilities, and proves the value of union membership.”
