Pregnant, and seeking a more suitable position
I work in a public hospital. I am pregnant and getting concerned about being able to do my usual duties for much longer. Is it possible I can work somewhere else to keep me at work?
Yes. Clause 34 A (x) of the Public Health System Nurses’ and Midwives’ (State) Award sets out that due to an illness or risk associated with your pregnancy, the employer is obliged – as far as is practicable – to provide employment in some other position that you are able to perform. The alternative position must be as close as possible in status and salary as your substantive position.
