Ask Katrina: Audit ready
Can the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) conduct random audits to ensure registrants are meeting registration standards such as recency of practice?
Yes. Nurses and midwives are required to maintain recency of practice by ensuring they have completed a minimum of 450 hours of practice within the past five years. If audited, this can be demonstrated by providing: a certificate of service from your employer, pay slips, an income statement for the year, or other documents showing the hours and dates worked.
