12-hour shifts

Lamp Editorial Team
|
October 3, 2018

I work in a rural facility operated by RSL LifeCare. There has been a recent discussion about 12 hour shifts. Is that permitted?

Schedule F of the RSL LifeCare, NSWNMA and HSU NSW Enterprise Agreement 2017 – 2020 permits registered nurses only at nominated regional locations to work 12-hour shifts. If employed prior to this agreement coming into effect, a registered nurse may agree to work on a 12-hour shift basis but will have a three-month trial period to decide whether they wish to continue or opt out of the arrangement. Ask your local manager to see Schedule F as it goes to some detail as how these shifts will be worked. Otherwise, contact the Association and we can provide you with a copy.
