The 31 May registration deadline is fast approaching for nurses and midwives. Begin the renewal process early to avoid unnecessary delays.

Annual renewal is a mandatory requirement set by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) and completing it in a timely manner ensures uninterrupted registration and ongoing eligibility to practise. 

Where do I renew my registration?

The renewal process is conducted exclusively through the Ahpra practitioner portal. Visit www.ahpra.gov.au to log in. 

Make sure your details are up to date

Before beginning the formal renewal steps, practitioners are strongly advised to log in to the portal to verify that their username, password and account details are up to date.

This simple check can help identify any access issues well before the busy parts of the renewal period. With thousands of practitioners renewing at the same time, leaving technical problems unresolved until late in May might result in significant stress and delays that impact your ability to work. 

I can’t log in – what do I do?

If you encounter difficulties logging in, need to reset your password, or discover that your details require updating, contact Ahpra as soon as possible. Ahpra is the only authority able to resolve issues related to practitioner accounts, system access, and technical troubleshooting.

Addressing these matters early ensures you have ample time to complete the required declarations, update professional information and meet any continuing professional development obligations associated with renewal.
