NSW man Scott McLellan has been found guilty of “holding out” to be a registered nurse while working at a cosmetic clinic.

McLellan, who had been working in Western Australia, was convicted of two counts of breaching the National Law, and was fined $15,000.

The charges related to the performance of duties of a registered nurse, including injecting patients with cosmetic injectables in late 2018.

McLellan was also found guilty of failing to appear in court to defend the charges.

AHPRA CEO Martin Fletcher said that cases of people holding out to be nurses put patients and the profession at risk.

“Patients put their trust in properly qualified and registered practitioners, and it is a gross violation of that trust when some falsely claims to be registered.”
