The Cumulative Costs of Wage Caps for Essential Service Workers in NSW
For over a decade, the NSW government has imposed an annual cap on wage increases for nurses and midwives.
Despite state budget surpluses and spiralling inflation, this arbitrary wages cap creates a cut to real wages, makes it more difficult to attract workers to vital service roles, and undermines wage growth across all sectors.
Register now for a special webinar with Dr. Jim Stanford, as he presents key findings out of a new joint report from the NSW Nurses and Midwives’ Association and Centre for Future Work: ‘The Cumulative Costs of Wage Caps For Essential Service Workers in NSW’.
Shaye Candish, NSWNMA General Secretary, and Michael Whaites, NSWNMA Assistant General Secretary, will also outline the flow on effects to nurses and midwives, and what we need to do to achieve a fair wage increase.
