Public sector workers deserve better: share your insights
The NSW Nurses and Midwives’ Association, in conjunction with Unions NSW and other public sector unions in our state, is conducting research on the pay and conditions of public sector workers in NSW.
We’re inviting all nurses and midwives employed in the NSW public health sector to take the survey.
You can complete the survey here.
This survey closes on 14 September 2022

We are the biggest union in Australia and we can’t run equal with wages to other states. !!! WHY? I know technology is taking over the world but time management and especially patient care was of high standard in the past with out computers BUT nursing is now completely destroyed by computers. Everything takes so much longer because the computer work has to be completed. which takes time away from patients.Gone are the simple quick days Examples Light not working, we filled in an invoice and put in our tray for maintenance and now it takes ages to go through different channels on computer.Administration of drugs, sign in,sign out and the list goes on. Patients especially the elderly are being de conditioned as soon as they walk into ward and are admitted by not having to be walked frequently as nurses haven’t got the time as computer work seems to be more important and creating longer stays that delay discharge as deemed unsafe by Physio with mobility and it’s our fault as they are not kept at baseline from admission because computer work is more important. A large amount of patients that were living independently are discharged to nursing homes when bed available creating long term patients and again we are to blame because time is given to computers and not to basic nursing care. Ratio’s would be great with out computers.
