Hong Huynh: our August Nurse of the Month

Lamp Editorial Team
|
August 26, 2020

Justine Taylor nominated her colleague Hong Huynh as our August nurse of the month. Read her nomination below.

Hong Huynh works for her patients.

Hong is the urology CNC and looks after all urology patients – especially men who are having prostatectomies for prostate cancer.

She cares for them post-operation, she educates them about their catheters, and she deals with ‘men’s issues’ post-prostatectomy. She is on call for her patients 24/7 and they do call her. She is super professional and skilled.

Patients tell their male friends about her and they come to Macquarie University Hospital just to be in her care. Surgeons cancel their lists if Hong needs to take leave.

She accepts no praise or glory for what she does.

Hong meets her patients pre-operation and is by their side throughout their patient journey and beyond. Hong and her patients chat like they are old friends.

Ask any prostatectomy patient that has been in Hong’s care, I know their answer will be the same: “amazing!”
